I feel like my family hit the jackpot in having our kiddos in Corrine’s care – both of them from age 1 until school started.  I never had the same challenges that so many friends and family did of having to find new care providers when things weren’t working out.  There was NEVER a time when we would have even considered moving our kids out of her care.  Corrine went over and above in all ways.  She truly made my kids feel loved.  She worked with them on early learning items, even in areas that we needed extra help with…she was willing to go the extra mile.  Because she cares.  She has the patience and heart of a Saint.  Truly.  She was always so professional with us, never afraid to raise issues if needed.  Took the kids on excursions.  Crafts galore.  Celebrating birthdays with the kids.  She was so dependable and very fairly priced.  Provided nutritious snacks and meals.  Basically she was the full package, which is why we all cried when it was time to move on. She became family to us and always will be.  She only has limited space, so if anyone reading this is even considering having their child go into her care…..sign up quick as she won’t have space for long!!

I can tell you (as a mother, elementary teacher, and masters student in counselling) that Corrine is the absolute best! She ALWAYS takes the kids outside daily, more than once. They explore all over, bus trips, the ravine, or go to playgrounds, or play in her back yard. She does preschool activities with them and I am always amazed at what my 3 year old has learned (to write his name, letters, numbers, etc.). Corrine is wonderful when working with the kids and addresses their emotional needs and social needs. She is supportive and works with the families on what is best for their child. Honestly, you will not find anyone better. I’ve had my older daughter in other dayhomes that I THOUGHT were great but they were nothing compared to Corrine and her program. Her kids, husband and dog Dobby are all wonderful and kind and welcoming. Honestly, I cannot praise Corrine enough and we are SO thankful to have found her.

Corrine has been our child care provider for 10 years now, ever since our oldest turned 1.  She is extremely caring, responsible and dedicated to providing care just as if it was an extension of our own home. She takes an active role in enhancing the children’s education and making sure they get plenty of exercise and time outside!  Corrine is very experienced, so we know that our kids are safe with her. Corrine's dayhome was such an amazing experience for our son who attended for 3 years. He enjoyed going to her dayhome everyday because he had fun playmates, great crafts and activities to do, and a loving household overall.  Corrine is a kind, patient and caring caregiver and I felt 100% confident when R was in her care. My son is a sensitive little fellow and I know that she was looking out for him just like I would. If you are looking for a dayhome that you can trust 100% you need to scoop a very rare spot from Corrine Gates at Discovery!  It is so evident that she truly loves what she does! So patient, kind and a very low stress inviting environment, a needed change after two failed matches at other day homes for various reasons. Her girls have also babysat for us when we needed it, they are fantastic too! This family is so incredible I can’t say enough about them. After just a couple of short months (we only need summer care)  we were dumbfounded that our son reciting ALL of his letters and numbers for us at dinner and recognizing them!  He LOVED performing them as he felt so accomplished and confident! He was also counting all the way to 20 on his 3rd birthday.  He talked about her dayhome for months after we/he no longer required care.  We still pop by on occasion to say hello.   Don’t pass up this opportunity for your child this is the best dayhome you’ll find for sure! 💕

Very rarely is someone in a profession that they are truly meant to be in, not just a job they love, but a job they were born to do. Corrine is one of the lucky few who gets to experience that. She is OUTSTANDING with the children and their parents. I often marvel at how lucky I am to be able to send my daughter, worry free, to Corrine every day. I always know that she is in the most amazing and capable hands. We absolutely love Corrine. 

She is very aware of the kids needs, feelings and emotions and adjusts to meet them where they are at every day. 

She always he puts a lot of effort into planning for the week and finding new engaging activities for the kids to do. 

She sends the kids home with crafts that serve as memories for them, and give the parents further insight to what they did during the day. 

She is so very kind and warm hearted. 

She communicates with the parents very well with lots of updates and pictures! 

She always checks in with the parents when there is changes or new things happening to get our consent. 

She is firm and consistant with rules and behaviour expectations, and as a result the kids behave really well, listen to her and respect he.r 

Overall it’s apparent that she puts a lot effort and energy into her work, but it’s also matched with an obvious love for the kids. A winning combination. We are so fortunate to have her!

Our little guy J has only been with Corrine since September 2023. Even though short, we absolutely love and adore Corrine. J has flourished in her care compared to a previous daycare setting. Even his very first day, he walked in and turned around and said 'bye Mommy" and to this day, has never cried at drop off. I think that just goes to show Corrine's energy, love & being so welcome. The only thing I would change, is not starting earlier with Corrine. Hehehe. We love her so so much! Choosing Corrine was our best decision for our family in the entire year of 2023.

Myself and my brother went to Corrine's dayhome when they lived in Edson. I considered going to Corrine's like going home! I loved spending time at her home and I felt like I was a part of the family. Corrine and Ian are both warm hearted people who are by far the kindest souls I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Our daughter has been going to Discovery Dayhome since September 2018. She has been so happy since day one and we love the fun, caring and nurturing environment. The kids are always doing different crafts, outdoor activities, fieldtrips and learning activities. It is obvious how much Corrine cares for and enjoys the kids and I see this when S happily runs to the door every morning. My 5 year old boy also goes during the summer and on occasion when there is rare space. He loves hanging out with Corrine and her crew. Highly recommend!
